Five Reasons Not to Like Our Facebook PageI don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of everyone wanting me to "like" their Facebook page.Well, here are five good reasons NOT to like our Facebook page. How MundaneWith every single company and organization out there begging you to like their page, it would be so common-place and mundane for us to do the same.Basically, who really cares what companies other people like anyway? Demonstrate Your IndependenceBy NOT liking all the Facebook pages, you demonstrate to the world your emotional sovereignty from corporate cyberspace. Don't be bossed around and manipulated by those who are only looking out for the popularity of their websites. It Could Be EmbarrassingIf you were to like our Facebook page, then people would know you liked homeschooling. That can be embarrassing. You know, the awkward silences at dinner parties; the stereotypes; the concern for children subjected to such unabated individualism. Best not to let the world know you like homeschooling websites.Like is so - boringLike everyone says "like" - like teenagers and those kind of people. Like it's real boring. If you want others in on a great secret it would be "Shout" or "Rave" or "Awesome". Like, what's like all about anyway? Google Wouldn't Like ItDid you know that Google and Facebook don't "like" each other?Of course, Facebook and Yahoo are in this internet-thing together. They are hoping together than can beat the Google-opoly. Google, of course, has no desire to step down from their place as King on the Mountain. So they came up with Google +1. Now, if you go around using Facebook all the time, it might hurt the self-esteem of the Google corporation. Or worse. Just think about it. If you were to hit our "Like" button right now, it just might be the proverbial straw that raises Facebook/Yahoo to center stage and brings the Google-empire to its knees. I mean, no-one wants that kind of responsibility on their shoulders. Reasons to Like Our Facebook PageWell, since you got this far through, I might mention two itsy-bitsy reasons you might want to consider possibly thinking about liking our page.Stand Up For the Small GuyThat's right. Homeschooling always was about the individual and not about the elite. So who would you rather like anyway? The large homeschool sites that are well put together by a group of committed homeschool mothers who have been doing it for years and know all about webmaster techniques and fancy widgets and would never, ever consider writing a run-on sentence like this one? Or would you rather stand up with the small guy er-mother, who does this by herself and is still trying to figure out the basics? Hey, I Won't Spam Your WallI only post to Facebook when I have developed a new page of relevent information.I read recently that webmasters should be spending one hour a day creating content for their Facebook pages. One hour! I don't spend an hour a month on it. Maybe I should, but I don't. When I have published new curriculum information for the website, I announce it on Facebook and Twitter. So about once a week you'll find out there is something new and you can come check it out if it is relevent to you.
